*Warning

Fires may not have been detected for several reasons:

• a fire can be too small to be detected;

• a fire can lit up and go out between two satellite visits;

• cloud cover, smoke generated by the fire or thick foliage can blind the fire detection captors;

• a problem affecting the detection device can occur (sensor, etc.).

Despite all the care we have taken in developing this service, it should not be considered as an absolute truth but as an indication of possible fire impacts, for the following reasons: the level of precision of the geographic location is relative (pixels of 375m up to 1km onsite), the method of calculating the impacted surfaces (estimation obtained by interpolation), and finally the variable precision of the geographic layers used within the framework of the service has an impact on the information delivered. The Observatory and the producers of the data interpreted by the "Fire Alert" tool decline any responsibility for the use that may be made of this service. No legal value is recognized in the content of the service and the data associated with it. This service notably uses data and images from LANCE FIRMS operated by NASA / GSFC / Earth Sciences Information and Data System (ESDIS) with funding provided by NASA / HQ.
